Cabin by the shore(Unfinished)

due to the game's title saying this was unfinished, i wanted to wait a little before trying it and give it some time to get updated. but i got curious, and i actually really liked it!! :D

the story is cut short but what's here is very intriguing. the three characters were incredibly charming and have ridiculously well defined personalities for how little screen time they have. and i love how the game only gives a few hints to something deeper going on with them and why they're taking this trip, instead of just revealing everything immediately. while sometimes their banter was a bit too stretched out, it was never less than entertaining and i really wanted to see what would happen to them next. i especially loved the small moments you get when you talk to them manually. for a runtime this short, it's a real achievement to make the story and the characters so interesting!

i REALLY like the art too! the character busts are neat & expressive and they're really good at conveying personality with just a pose and a few faces. and the sprites/tileset are nicely designed and readable; i'm a sucker for simple pixelart backgrounds, and that style mashes surprisingly well with the character portraits. i did notice some scaling issues with parts of the store and the cabin, but it's not a dealbreaker or anything. oh, and i LOVE that every character's dialogue has a different color! that's something i don't see really often and i appreciate the extra effort a ton. overall you can really tell there was a lot of effort put into the visual presentation :>

the description says to tell you if we find any bugs so i'll mention a few i found: at all times you have a second nameless character in your party, not sure if that's intentional or not. and there was one time (if you choose not to pay yet at the store) where braden's text is white instead of red. also not a bug, but i found his text kinda hard to read. maybe it'd be better with a lighter shade of red? i also saw some grammar mistakes here and there but it wasn't a big deal.

it's kinda sad this game is being overlooked in the jam just (i assume) because it says it's unfinished. i hope you keep updating it so it gets the attention it deserves, and cause i really want to see how the story continues!!
